Domaine de Soulisse
A magnificent estate for your active holidays. The 17 hectares
measuring Soulisse Estate in the middle of France with its
completely renovated farm built in the 14th century disposes of its
own horses and encloses a large pond of no less than 20.000 m2 for
swimming and fishing purposes.
Forêt de Tronçais.
The Soulisse Estate at a distance of about 350 km from Paris is
surrounded by the Tronçais Forest measuring 11.000 hectares, making
it a unique point of departure for horse riding, walking tours and
cycling routes.
In the immemorial oak wood you’ll find Europe’s biggest durmast
“Chêne Steb- bing” (37 m high and having a girth of 4 m). When
watching carefully you might come face to face with deer, roes and
wild boars. Also different species of birds of pray can be admired
here, species that are no longer found elsewhere. The lakes and many
streams turn the wood into a real eldorado for nature lovers.
The horses
The KWPN horses we bred ourselves are originating from Holland and
form the base of the riding horses of our estate. Besides the 6
Dutch riding horses we also have 4 French horses (Selle Français)
and an Arab horse. All horses graze on the domaine’s pastureland
measuring 15 hectares.
Facilities
You’re staying in one of the two accommodations of the restored farm
built in the 14th century. The spacious accommodation for 6 persons
consists of a large drawing room, a fully equipped kitchen, a
bathing room and a toilet. On the ground level there are a bedroom
for two persons and another one for 2/4 per-sons. A vacant space
offers eventually additional place to sleep for another 6 persons.
The drawing room opens to the sunny terrace facing south with a
panoramic view.
The cosy detached accommodation for 4 persons consists of a drawing
room, an open kitchen, a bathing room and two bedrooms. Having a
sheltered terrace and garden facing south this accommodation forms
an ideal residence for a family with 2 children (eventually 3).
There are conveniences also for the littlest ones, such as a child’s
bed, a baby bath, a pen and a buggy.
Activities
The domaine with its forest, streams, cascade and pond forms the
ideal point of departure for walking tours, mountain bike routes and
horse riding. Nearby lakes offer a.o. possibilities for fishing,
rowing and sailing. Especially for the benefit of swimmers some
lakes are having guarded sandy beaches.
In the neighbourhood there are many places of interest, such as
castles, churches and museums. Also golf and midget golf links as
well as tennis courts can be found, whereas you can also enjoy the
regional festivities, such as the weekly “brocante” (every sunday).
At one hour’s distance you’ll find a spacious amusement park, where
you can descend the stream by canoe. In the nearby villages there
are plenty possibili-
ties for making culinary trips.
But also those who wish peace and quiet will find everything they’re
looking for at our estate. And in the village of Cérilly at a
distance of 4 km there are the usual facilities such as a bank, a
post office, a supermarket, a doctor, a pharmacy, a veterinarian and
a tourist office.
Rental agreements
The facilities of Domaine de Soulisse can also be hired for special
occasions, both on a business and a private base. Horse riding
excursions, family meet-
ings or seminars: everything is possible up to 14 persons.
Especially for horsemen we’ll be glad to arrange, in consultation
with you, a program of horse riding through the woods, eventually
combined with instruc- tions for beginners
